TWWC Horseshoe
Nail Cross |
This cross is a gift to the candidates from a number of individuals in The Walk With Christ Community. In one city the nails are sorted for matching size, bent, filed, assembled into component "kits" and shipped to "assemblers" in cities throughout our region of Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and North Eastern Oregon. These craftsman solder and polish the metal into finished crosses. During an early part of the Walk weekend, Community members working "behind the scene" string the cross with and knot the beads onto the leather cord. At every stage of this assembly process, each person prays for the candidate who will receive and wear the cross. The completed necklaces are then taken to the Prayer Vigil to be prayed over hourly for at least 24 hours prior to the candidate receiving it. All who participate in crafting the crosses wish to remain anonymous to ensure praise and glory go to God alone.
The Horseshoe Nail Cross was brought to the TWWC from the Cursillo movement by our Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho Catholic and Espiscopal brothers and sisters. In response to questions of, "Why is this [Horseshoe Nail] cross used as a symbol of The Walk With Christ?", we offer this explanation: We pray that this cross will be a constant reminder to each Pilgrim who wears it, that "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NIV) It was Jesus who said "But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." (John 12:32, NIV) |
